What a wonderful time of year this is.  Everyone is getting ready for the Holidays with new plantings and bright lights.  Check out the nightly LIGHT SHOW at 1333 Skiles, December 2010 Yard of the Month.  Phillip Bryan and Disney Mukadam have done a fantastic job with the installation of their lights.  The lights around the windows and doors are cradled in a track so they are stationary, and the wires are hidden.  Genius, I tell ya!  And the flashing lights on top turn different colors as each color chases each other around the outline of the rooftop adorned by flashing stars placed in the arched window with a colorful Holiday wreath in the middle of the front window.

And,  the wonderful job they have also done with the landscaping around their Bryan Place home. The two Japanese maples are red in color during this season and the blue berries on the Indian Hawthorne with seasonal pansies and cypress trees flanking the front porch; such a wonderful landscape and nightscape for all to enjoy this holiday season.

Thank you so much Phillip and Disney, for putting forth so much effort to make our neighborhood shine.   I’m sure everyone appreciates the joy that your home is providing to this neighborhood.

Tip of the month:  Place Christmas trees away from fireplaces, radiators, heat vents and anything else that could dry the needles. Keep your Christmas tree well watered from the time it is brought home until it is discarded.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the wonderful comments you have made to me over the past two years.  I really appreciated the feedback and suggestions.  I know that I didn’t get to choose all the yards that were suggested, but those did not go unnoticed.  There are many yards in the neighborhood that deserve the honor.  This is my last yard of the month that I will be choosing, and I am sure my successor as landscape chair will take up where I leave off, so everyone, make it hard for him/her to choose Yard of the Month J.  Cheers to all!  Dan Warren
