Theft and burglary of motor vehicles continue to be headaches in our otherwise peaceful neighborhood.
One of our neighbors on San Jacinto who tries to maintain a tranquil, conversational seating oasis out front for herself and her neighbors has been struck again by thieves. This is the second time in recent months that patio furniture has been stolen from this small cul‐de‐sac. This time, they not only took the matching chairs and table that they left behind last time, but also took the chains and locks used to secure the items.
I have received several calls reporting car break‐ins in the neighborhood. Those of you who receive messages from Nextdoor Bryan Place probably saw the message reporting three or more auto break‐ins in June there as well as two attempted home entries.
Please stay alert to unusual activity in the neighborhood, and particularly to anyone out‐of‐place or looking furtive. Don’t hesitate to call 911 if you see something that makes you uncomfortable. Even if you are not sure that a crime is taking place, the police encourage you to call. The police would rather that you call than to allow a potential crime to go unreported. Also, accurate reporting of crimes will help our area get the attention it deserves when resources and personnel are deployed.
Many of the auto break‐ins and thefts occur at night, under cover of darkness. So please consider outside motion‐activated lighting if you don’t already have it. If you hear unusual noises outside at night, there is no need to investigate yourself, just call 911 immediately.
