Mixed Use Development Dead In Old East Dallas?

It is becoming obvious that we are about to be boxed in with several apartment complexes without retail included as in other areas of the city.

Like the Icon on Ross Avenue, the plans revealed for Greystar and Trammel Crow to develop units on Live Oak Street and Ross Avenue are unlikely to provide space for new businesses around Bryan Place.

Recently the Ambrose apartments near the DART’s Green Line at Baylor lost retail it had on its ground-floor level after Jimmy John’s and a coffee shop went out of business and the owner requested approval to convert that space into additional apartments.

Whenever the BPNA has a chance to do so, our desire for mixed used developments with ground floor retail will be made known.
