Beat the Heat! – Water conservation tips

By September 28, 2011August 19th, 2017Announcements, City Services

In addition to the Dallas watering restriction of not running your sprinkler system between 10 am and 6pm, the city has more tips on conserving water.

  • Run the faucet in the shower into a bucket until the water gets warm. You paid for the water, why waste it waiting for the warm water to show up?  Use it on plants, trees out back, vegetable gardens, pets, the clothes washer…anything you use water to do.
  • Soaker hoses in the garden. Pop up sprinklers have their benefits and their drawbacks. When it’s particularly windy outside, using a soaker hose allows you to put the water exactly where you need it and keeps it there rather than having it spray everywhere and blow away.
